devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is a not-for-profit
community-service organization which now numbers nearly
3 million members, men and women, in nearly
15,000 American Legion posts worldwide.

History of the
American Legion
Victor Stier Post 450
A small group of Veterans from World War I, living within the Milford area, placed an application for charter to the National American Legion for a Post in Milford. The application was approved and granted on September 16, 1920. This group of veterans consisted of Stanley Steiger, John Ekey, Walter Williams, Leonard Steman, Charles Cook, H. Thompson, John Steiger, Albert Brown, William Moore, Frank Davis, Clifford Lawrence, Forrest Hill, Alvan Hodge, Andrew Ruffalo and Marcellus Chandler.
